Halloween tips of the trade

Posted on October 30th, 2008 by Francesca

Let me get a little historical on y’all.

Orange is a power color. It stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance.

Yes, this is one of the colors for Halloween, but it also happens to be Cut & Sewn’s color too. Coincidence? Perhaps, or just meant to be…POWERFUL.

Things that suck about Halloween

1. Walking into a party with somebody wearing the same half-assed costume you are.

2. When you feel tricked with a half opened tootsie roll and your buddy gets treated with the king size 3 Musketeer Bar.

3. In my case, getting your wisdom teeth pulled two days before the big spooky fiesta.

Tips to a unique Halloween

1. Buy a Halloween baby bib and stick it on your pet (if you don’t have a pet, a roommate will do). Then laugh uncontrollably and point.

2. Get creative and plan your costume ahead of time. The lines for Ricky’s are ridiculously long day of and not worth all of the impatient people in your breathing space. Do yourself a favor and plan ahead. If you’re going to pay an arm and a leg for a costume you’ll wear once and probably ruin after a black out night, it might as well be AMAZING!

3. Don’t plan your night. If you set yourself on one party, and happens to be the same party that the entire city is going to, you’re most likely going to end up arrested for indecent exposure by the po as your party is evacuated for reaching capacity. There are plenty of places to go – and you won’t remember any of them anyway.

But I don’t know what to wear?

The best costume I have ever come up with cost me $50. Red leotard, red tights, blue headband. Of course it was from American Apparel, but like I said, find the time and I’m sure you can be thrifty. Thing 1 and Thing 2. It’s simple, yet brilliant and was by far the best costume at the Vegoose Music Festival (the final one) in Las Vegas Oct ‘07.

If you’re going to be a witch, then make your own costume. That’s why God invented Google images- for motivation.
If you’re going to be a ghost, you better figure out how to actually become transparent.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
